Email to SKA Board of Directors - 8th February 2018.
I drafted a paper for you on the plans for the Early Production Arrays and intimated the planned meeting to discuss plans on 7-8 March at SKA HQ. An additional day (9 March) has been set aside for possible follow-on discussions. It has been noted that some countries are indicating that they plan to send several individuals to support the meeting. Whilst we appreciate this level of support, we also know that all members of the community are pressed given the fact that Critical Design Reviews have started. In addition, the aim of the meeting is to discuss the outline plans and to give an indication on what contribution the members could give to allow a paper to be delivered to the next board. On the assumption that the paper and plan are approved, then the detail of the planning can commence. The plan clearly shows a planning phase at the beginning.
To allow us to manage the meeting, I would ask that directors restrict the attendance to two people at most, with remote participation encouraged and supported at the meeting. Your representatives should be in a position to discuss the outline plans and to give some indication on national contributions.
