Practical information about Madrid

We (mainly our LOC representative, Juan Antonio, thanks!) have compiled some additional information for your arrival to Madrid:

Weather

The weather forecast indicates temperatures ranging 16ºC by day and 6ºC by night. So it can be slightly cold during these days (it is a good idea to bring your jacket, particularly at night). Some rain is forecast from Monday 11 to Wednesday 13.

Transportation

Airport to/from hotels

The trip to/from the airport by taxi is no 30€ (closed fare), perhaps plus luggage charge if you bring too much. The suggested hotels are located in the Moncloa area, which is approximately 25 minutes away from the Barajas airport.

You might decide to use the underground train network instead to go from the Madrid-Barajas airport to Nuevos Ministerios (and any other Metro station) using the underground train network. The total cost of the trip from/to the airport is 6€.

Venue to/from hotels

You can take the bus (line G) from the Moncloa area. It is approximately the 9th stop, so it shouldn´t take you much time (around 15 minutes in total). You can also ask for the Telecomunicaciones stop, located in the Ciudad Universitaria area.

The ‘G’ bus connects Moncloa with the Ciudad Universitaria (in English Universitary City). On the working days, buses are continuously running (5-10 min).

Around Madrid

People usually move around Madrid using the underground network (Metro). We recommend you to buy a 10-trip Metrobus ticket. It is cheaper than the regular one, and valid for both the bus and the Metro networks.

Madrid is commonly divided in areas, whose name is given by its nearest Metro station: Sol, Moncloa, Ciudad Universitaria, Nuevos Ministerios, etc.

3) Location of the Telecomunicaciones School: The Telecomunicaciones School is located in the north part of the Ciudad Universitaria area, which is in the west part of Madrid. It is situated among many other Schools and University buildings.

The Paraninfo is a sport area situated in the middle of the Ciudad Universitaria, and the Telecomunicaciones School is in the upper-right side of it.

Once you have reached the Telecomunicaciones bus stop, the main entrance is approximately 1 minute walking up from the bus stop. The Telecomunicaciones buildings are grey, so once you get there they should be easily differentiable from the other Schools.

* The school is sorrounded by some trees, so it is not easily visible from the main road.

Locating the meeting room

The meeting will take place at "Sala de Profesores C" (Professors Room C), located in the first floor of Building C.

You’d only need to ask for the entrance of building ‘C’, and go up to the 1st floor. That’s it. Let's meet there!
