Description

In general, VLBI networks need to calibrate with additional terms over complex gain, namely, delay and rate. This type of calibration, known as fringe fitting has also been found beneficial and in some cases necessary with interferometers other then traditional VLBI networks. The use of AIPS for fringe fitting is well established however many of the new or upgraded telescopes use the Measurement Set as their native data format and employ Casa and other software built on top of Casacore for processing. Under the ALBiUS project, a project has begun to explore and develop a Casa implementation of fringe fitting. This talk will report on its progress.
